Claire's Magnetic Studs
(OR: HOW THE NEIGHBOR OF CACA CAME TO FLOAT IN THE BASIN OF MY NEW HOUSE)
Today was a historic day, memorable, those that make you understand that differences in the development of countries mark the day to day people. Today is jammed pipe of the sink in my new apartment Pekingese. Two weeks ago I moved into an apartment block more central than the previous, next to the metro station and the theater PolyPlaza Donsishitiao. Sun City is called with four blocks. My friend Mario told me that mine was built a little later to the families evicted from the center hutongs and was of poor quality. I did not believe to this day.
This afternoon, dead of sleep because of jet lag - that made me sleep until 12 noon as a log - I've gotten a second time in the shower. The first was a week ago and nothing bad happened. But today, out of the shower (one of those prefabricated jet massage, a quirk of my Chinese landlord), I noticed something strange. My feet chaopoteaban. I could barely see anything without glasses or contact lenses, but I could see that the color of the towel of the feet was a little darker than usual. Soaked. When I put the glasses I almost had a heart attack. Resiguiendo with far reaching views water, I have finished in the living room. The pool was stopped right in front of the television via a small rug. And I barefoot. "I could have electrocutaaaaaaaaaaadooooooooooooooooo" I thought, angry. He had polled, or broom, or anything, so I drained the water with the pads as I could and I long to Wu Mart (China imitation of American super Wal Mart) to buy cleaning equipment.
Upon returning, I called the boy's management, a Chinese man, aged about 18, which has risen armed with a rubber plunger and a tornavís. "Mei Wenti" (no problems), I said, after a look of a minute and a half for breaking gross (in China scrap yards are always filthy, just a plastic tube can be engaged as the hole in the ground, smelly odors rise in wind d ies).
not have believed me a buck hair and I have a washing machine - the first since I'm here - to see that happening. ERROR. . GRAVE ERROR. SECOND DAY FLOOD.
I recalled for management. This time they climbed two buck that, when they saw the water, I have said, "you throw the toilet paper to the toilet ?"... Yes. Once yes, Jolin, but it only took two days on this floor, it is impossible that has already been atascadooooo. Well, I do not know what happened. But within three minutes had the guys removing the sink and the neighbor's poop (I prefer to think that it was not mine) floating on the floor. I am nauseated, dizzy from the heat and view of the liquid marroncillo hiorripilante covering the white surface of my toilet ...
And how much water ... China has a special vacuum cleaner with water and has done what it could to take it from there. But when you are gone, my sink, my new house, were the closest thing to a battlefield. Experience the quality of construction in China. Tonight I'll take three gintonics and will pledge to the development of the West finally comes to China. To hell with democracy in China. First starting to build pipelines and scrapping for that shit go like god ....

JAM IN THE WATER BACK TO BEIJING
I still have 8 hours of sleep in my bed as a child on my parents' house, near Barcelona. Tomorrow back to Beijing after a week enjoying the clear blue sky of the Mediterranean, family, friends and a marathon lunches and dinners that have forced me to buy new pants. Do I expect the stress? What stress can be in Beijing? One of the things I value most of the Beijingers and, in general, the Chinese, is its parsimony and quiet to go around the world. Watch them here in full game of mahjong:
The picture was made by my friend Aritz Parra, also a journalist. This mahjong club is in a dilapidated old hutong opposite the northern gate of the Temple of Heaven. Not visible from the street, because before the games built a concrete wall to hide the ugliest hutongs foreign visitors. Lest that might spoil the "perfect image" of Beijing. I have to remember to go there to check if the wall is still standing.

red boxer in Hong Kong Hung
The blue shirt that looked Chinese boxer Zou Shiming in the ring of the Workers' Gymnasium in Beijing on the first day of competition of the Games was unclear. His opponent, a Venezuelan, was who wore the red of Communist China founded by Mao Zedong. Although it would have come to the ring dressed in red, Zou, 26 and the first Chinese boxer with chances to win gold in Beijing (and won), it would have fitted into the China of Mao. The Communist leader banned boxing during the years of the Cultural Revolution, as being associated with decadent Western values.
"People believed that boxing was raw, like Capitalism. So it was forbidden, "he told The New Yorker magazine Fan Hong, a Chinese historian specializing in the history of athletics at the Asian giant. Boxing, as known in the West, began to become popular in 1920 in the port cities like Shanghai or Canton, where foreign sailors went out to fight against local fighters. It developed out of control until, in 1953, a boxer died in a tournament in Tianjin. The accident occurred at a time when Mao's government, increasingly sensitive to Western ways, such as competitive sports and elite athletes when they were accused of jinbiao zhuyi, "trophy-mania, too bourgeois aspiration . Boxing was banned until 1986, when the country initiated the reform and opening process, and reopened to the world.
Boxing, also with 11 different racing categories, according to the weight of the wrestler, offered a large number of gold medals by winning one of the great aspirations of modern China. Bundle agile body, Zou competes in the 48 kg category, the lightest of all. Meantime, Zou not sit to rest, but prefers to rely on the corner of the ring. In its first round, Zou won easily. Her cries of support from their compatriots in the stands. Ended up taking the gold in the Beijing Games, as expected.
Zou is one of the athletes who has managed to become famous in China, a country with a passion for martial arts but where boxing was not so popular. In fact, Zou, a young man passionate about fashion and pop music Hong Kong, had always held a great fan of martial arts movies, wushu. His coach said that together they have developed a "Chinese Boxing", more focus on "flexibility and speed."
In 2003, Zou won the nation's first national competition, was declared a national worker mdoelo "and invited to join the Communist Party. In Athens 2004, Zou reached the semifinals, winning a bronze, China's first boxing. And in November 2007, won the world amateur championship in Chicago. "We told the world with our fists that China is strong," was the headline in Beijing News when he returned home.

How Much Do Polo Shirts Cost
must be very hung out to go to Hong Kong and stay in a hotel mass without any special attraction, just behind the Hotel Peninsula. From my window I see her luxurious cocktail bar, the white colonial-style facade, the glow of the neon lights of the skyscrapers of the Bay ... (I see only the blaze because the skyline me cover the Peninsula, of course ....)
Here some photos to give you an idea of \u200b\u200bwhat I'm hung, dining crackers, a banana and show that work. And Hong Kong is one of the best eating places in the world ...

"We are the bottom of this country "
Not a single resident of my neighborhood, Shuangjing, who has not ever see Zhao Ying and her husband, Zheng. Are a couple of immigrants from Henan, dedicated to the collection of recyclable waste: paper, cans, plastic bottles, etc ... Appear every weekday, early in the morning and not leave until late at night, if lucky, with the truck full. Always parked in the same place, at the corner of my street, beside a flowerbed where workers sit down to lunch at noon.
Zhao Ying, collects recyclable trash in my neighborhood.
I see them from my window. Zhao with his straw hat, taking the neighbors who bring bags full of garbage. And inside the truck Zheng, squatting, ordering merchandise. They say they are so clean and efficient will have no problems during the games.
Her husband, Zheng, make sure everything is clean and tidy. Work is play with it. Their income depends on the resale of garbage collected in the recycling centers on the outskirts of Beijing. Many have been closed on the occasion of the Olympics. The government does not pay a dime. Just give them permission to work. Are immigrants from Henan. Got the job four years ago, through a guanxi , a friend.
Beijing authorities have forced thousands of immigrants dumps them to leave the city during the Games, saying they pose a danger to the safety and health of visitors. Supposedly, many of them have illnesses, criminal records and litter the streets .. That's what the government says. So too have closed large recycling centers near Beijing, where landfills are going to resell the goods. Earn very little. To me, and all the neighborhood laowai (foreigners), we esteem. I never get more than 2.5 yuan (0.25 euros), more cans or kilos of paper used to bring him. She weighed on a scale atrotinada, says: "mmmm .." and I laughed out loud, I take out the dirty and crumpled notes of his fanny pack. Zhao is nice. But Curran has a lot to make a living as well. He says that for a kilo of paper she pays 1.3 yuan. Then resells it for 1.4 or 1.5 yuan. Prices are falling because there is more trash and few recycling centers open. All this couple wins the people send him home, where her 16 year old son with the grandparents. Want to go to college and find a better job than his. "We are the bottom of this society," says Zhao. "The rich look down on us because we live in the garbage," he adds. But Zhao keeps her smile. Talk up a storm, has an energy and good humor enviable. Her husband, therefore, the silences all the time. "Say no to foreign journalists," says Zheng. "You know what they did with Tibet." The Chinese government's propaganda deficit resulting, have managed to convince ordinary people qu elos foreign journalists are the devil and only want to load the image of China and the Olympics. It is a pity that we tap this bad paper. But if Chinese journalists are censored, who must then report the injustices in this country? Andrea

Xian, la nuit
One of the biggest mistakes one can make when traveling to China is limited to just see the sights. Unfortunately, this is what they do most guiris. The error is fatal in cities like Xian, home of the famous terracotta warriors and mausoleums of the early emperors of China, the Qin and Han Yeah .. visit these sites is fine, if you do not mind to be accompanied by thousands of Chinese tourists who spend escopeteaos off the sculptures and the only thing that matters is to take a picture.
This child seems more interested in the soldier (is real, but did not move a hair) than terracotta warriors.
Where is the respect for its ancient culture? I saw a little boy peeing in the hallway of the museum of the warriors, and the mother laughed, perfectly calm. The guard said nothing.
The Chinese government sold the bike to the people, saying you have to be patriots, to promote domestic tourism "cultural" within the country. This year we need more than ever because the number of foreign tourists has dropped sharply. The first reason: the Olympics. To ensure safety during the event and avoid any strain were activist in the country, Beijing is making it very difficult to get tourist visas. Other reasons: one dollar loose and general bad feeling with China, created after the Tibetan riots and accentuated by the earthquake in Sichuan. Xian tourist attractions as they are paying the consequences. Although it is high season, many hotels still have rooms available, the guides fight over the few guiris that exist in the city and some places have been desérticos.Es the case of a silk factory in Xian, near the mausoleum of Emperor and the Qin Shi Huang Terracotta Warriors. Accustomed to receiving thousands of tourists hungry to buy Chinese pajamas, now the store is empty and the staff looked bored face front the counter, with the lights off. Open only when it reaches a buyer, who immediately intimidated by the feeling of being the first step on the place, and overwhelmed by the attentions of fifteen clerks boring.
Best of Xian, then, is the city itself. Walking around the streets of downtown in a summer night is full of surprises. Here in the square bell tower, men placed two giant telescopes, with a green laser aimed at the full moon. They charged 10 yuan (about 1 euro) to those who wanted to look through the lens.
Kind of astronomy or scam?

As a former starting point of the Silk Road, Xian remains an important Muslim neighborhood, inhabited by Chinese Hui ethnic mix of Chinese and Arabs.

They day Jose Manuel D. Barroso deserves a gold medal
José Manuel Durao Barroso is seen by many as the lowest profile European Commission president in history. He is far from being a charismatic politician, but I think it is not his fault: the more developed and stablished is a democracy, the less visionaires (or let's say, Churchills) it needs. Politicians become managers and technocrats because the system keeps running properly (I didn't say perfect). I also believe that europeism needs now a lot of Churchills (Joschka Fischer, Daniel Cohn Bendit and Jean Claude Juncker are rare examples). Barroso is not one of them: he is not brilliant and he commited the worst possible mistake supporting the Iraq war.
But Barroso is a top representative of the EU, and it means a lot. He not only represents the interests of 490 million EU citizens, he must also defend the values the EU was founded for. Last April he was in Beijing leading the biggest European Commission (EC) delegation ever to visit China. The day he met premier Wen Jiabao they gave together an institutional speech for the press. Later, Barroso confronted again the press but in a 'freer' atmosphere, in the EC Beijing headquarters.
A chinese female journalist (chinese journalists seem to be almost always women under 30 years old) asked Barroso what was his opinion about the harsh reaction from the chinese people (boycott to Carrefour, demonstrations and so on) to
1, to the protests in Paris, Athens and London against the chinese repression in Tibet.
2, to the position of several european leaders to reject the invitation to assist to the olympics opening ceremony.
3, to a call approved by the European Parliament asking the EU to investigate the riots in Lhasa.
The chinese journalist quoted her government as saying that all these actions were "an arrogant interference in China's domestic affairs". Here is what Barroso answered:
"We in Europe do not consider Human Rights as an interference because we defend Human Rights as a universal value".
"In the European Parliament you can find a wide range of opinions and sometimes there also [opinions] against the position of our governments".
"I suggest the chinese authorities to be ready to accept criticism because we are now in an open [global] society where dialogue and criticism should be accepted".

What Is Graining Lg Lcd
Tired of the Olympic Games and National Catholicism
Sometimes we need to waste our time with unimportant things. The Football Eurocup is an example. Problems appear when we consider that these unimportant things are indeed something worthy. Like the crowd in Spain celebrating the Eurocup victory as if it was the non plus ultra of their lifes. Another example are the Olympic Games. A friend of mine in the US told me yesterday: "aren't you very excited? You will be covering an historical event". ¿Historical event? My Godness! The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will be a propaganda show and an occasion for a few athletes to show how far we can go phisically, but that's all!
I'm already tired of the Olympic Games! Every minute in life of an urban chinese is marked by the communist party olympic propaganda. The International Olympic Committee complained recently (they complained veeery softly; chinese officials are veeery sensitive) because the chinese government was using the torch relay to play politics. Well, do you want a nice cockatil of politics and Olympic Games? Then, please check this link from the Official Website of the Beijing Olympic Games. It is about a Communt Party Anniversary celebration. 1.500 new members took the Party Oaths in Beijing, but do you know where? At the Olympic Green, in front of the Olympic Stadium.
-.-.
Every step we make is severely checked by the Public Security Bureau. From Now Until the End of the Year, Every person visits the country That Should Have an olympic ticket or an invitation letter from a friend or a local company to visit the country! Police meat three times to my apartment to check my visa! I'm sorry But I do not give a shit For These Olympic Games.

Mount&blade How To Be3come A King
So many decades of Franco are difficult to remove, but the English success at Euro I are discovering aspects of the past that I believed missing and yet still alive and kicking.
The nacionalcatolicismo:
"nacionalcatolicismo sm Doctrine and practice of the English Catholic Church during the Franco regime characterized by its close relationship with the state and its control of education, culture and other areas of social life. "
( Dictionary of the English Language Manual Vox. © 2007 Larousse Editorial, SL )
Cadena Ser and television Cuatro, Prisa group two (in principle the most progressive of Españña, a part of everyday public ), celebrated the victory of the Rojja the praises of God and all the saints.
When reached the round of penalty kicks in the BE journalists antenna prayed the Our Father together. Then, for each English player who threw the penalty, called the intercession of the Virgin of their city or region. Relay finished singing the anthem in English peen plan Manolo el del Bombo Bar. The
Four, scoring Fabregas goal of classification, the announcer shouted "God exists! Spain is better!"
Imagine if the most liberal of Españña react well, why not make the other stations. -.-.-.
When I was little, in my school, La Salle Bonanova, strolled through the courtyards a skinny little old priest. The socerdote in question was the delight of the children because you greeted thugs with a "Viva Franco" or "Heil Hitler", the man raised his arm and I repeated the greeting. In Germany, this man would be in prison. So I'm going to Germany.
Colleagues and English journalists say that Germany is winning games by luck. This was published today by the daily El Pais. Carai, 60 years of luck! I do not know, maybe the luck you seek it, and not praying. I have always believed that lament the fate of the losers because they repeat precisely the lucky people I met were the most valid.

2008 Radiohead Tour Das wird 12 Länder besuchen, aber nicht China. Why? Are not Fans of Thom Yorke in China? Yes, but Radiohead is a flawless supporters of the independence of Tibet, so these guys are not welcome in China.
There is much wiser heads in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, rather than the Communist Party propaganda, want to hear the music of Radiohead. To this year is 100% impossible for a China tour by Radiohead, but in case they want to play in China, I would recommend you find a third way. It would be possible to arrange a concert with the Communist Party, but only if the British band concerned with diplomacy. What would that mean? 1. You are nothing about Tibet or The Dalai Lama speak at the concert. Beside that, almost anything was possible. 2. Radiohead should understand that very positive for the development of China would be if their Geniälitat could meet with the Chinese company.
(Nothing to lose? Or another stupid idea?)

Pneumonia English Bulldogs
Why go to Germany?
Those who saw me know yesterday that I celebrated the victory of the English team. Beating the Italians with penalties is a joy, however much they admire his defense, which is worthy of Nobel Prize. They're Racan, the Italians.
Why then support Germany in the Euro?

Those who saw me know yesterday that I celebrated the victory of the English team. Beating the Italians with penalties is a joy, however much they admire his defense, which is worthy of Nobel Prize. They're Racan, the Italians.

A Country Without A fair law system will never Be A leading power for the human kind

The Beijing Judicial Bureau has to date Refused to renew the professional licenses of Teng Biao and Jiang Tianyong, two lawyers with distinguished records of defending civil and human rights cases. The deadline for renewal is May 31. The move followed a weeks-long delay by the bureau to complete the annual registration of more than a dozen law firms, many of which employ lawyers who have been involved in what the government deems to be “sensitive cases.” Some lawyers have privately denounced the bureau’s actions as “large-scale blackmail,” designed to deter law firms from getting involved in cases that may be embarrassing to the government.
“Beijing is trying to intimidate the legal profession by suspending these two lawyers and threatening not to renew many licenses,” said Sophie Richardson, Asia advocacy director at Human Rights Watch. “The goals are to deter lawyers from representing human rights cases, and to deter firms from employing lawyers who want those cases.”
In early April, following the government’s announcement that several hundred Tibetans had been taken into custody for their role in the March protests in Lhasa, a group of 18 prominent civil rights lawyers issued an open letter offering to provide legal assistance to the detainees. “As professional lawyers, we hope that the relevant authorities will handle Tibetan detainees strictly in accordance with the constitution, the laws and due process for criminal defendants,” the letter said. “We hope that they will prevent coerced confessions, respect judicial independence and show respect for the law.”
The Ministry of Justice, which has authority over lawyers and bar associations and controls their professional licenses through a system of annual renewal, immediately responded by threatening the letter’s signatories and their respective law firms with disciplinary sanctions and holding up the renewal of their professional licenses. Beijing judicial authorities summoned individual lawyers and heads of law firms, told them the Tibetan protesters were not “ordinary cases but sensitive cases,” and asked law firms to dissociate themselves from the individual signatories or to terminate their employment.
Several law firms where notified in writing by the judicial authorities why their registration was being delayed: “The lawyers from your law firm are involved in representing some sensitive cases, therefore, the annual inspection and registration of your firms will be temporarily postponed,” the notification said. A number of lawyers were also warned by national security personnel against accepting retainers from relatives of Tibetan defendants. The Beijing Bar Association, which like other Chinese bar associations remains controlled by the local judicial authorities, also warned heads of law firms of possible disciplinary sanctions. The head of the Beijing Bar also accused the lawyers of having provided support to the “Dalai Lama clique.”
In a second open letter published on May 24, a week before the registration deadline, the signatories of the original appeal explained the motives behind their offer to defend Tibetans, and rejected the view that equated their offer of legal services with a proof of support for Tibetan separatism ideas (which constitutes a state security crime under Chinese law).
“To provide legal defense to criminal suspects and defendants is the function of a lawyer. It is an important component of the rule of law, and to defend them is not equivalent to agreeing to their position or actions,” the signatories wrote. “
The authors also stressed that deeming cases “politically sensitive” and therefore denying due process conflicts with the rule of law: “…progress [towards the rule of law] lies precisely in these so-called politically sensitive cases. The more openly they are handled, the most visible the progress. As the world has its eyes on China, hastily trying defendants without allowing them their choice of counsel will only damage the image of legalism in China,” they wrote.

Every web site should propaganda and report State Department's Announcement promptly, dominantly, and repeatedly ; should timely and dominantly report mourning activities of Party Central Committee, State Department and local's. In parallel with propaganda and report on the Internet, related web site should utilize mobile SMS, MMS, Mobile newspaper, etc methods to report. State Department Announcement should be put at the dominate location on the home page of every web site during National Mourning Day.
Every web site stops 3 days of all kinds of entertainment activities and services. From 0:00 19thto 24:00 21th, every game web site, game channels of every web site must be all closed; every entertainment channel and entertainment kind of video and audio channel web site must be covered by mourning pages; pages under these channels must not be accessible. All entertainment forum of all web sites must all be closed; all music, entertainment video search function of all search engine must be all closed; all entertainment kind of advertisement must be all closed.
Organize mourning on the web well. Atmosphere of all web site must be appropriate to the national mourning. All major news sites, and major commercial sites should well organize mourning activities joined by netizens, should completely reflect the painful sentiment and patriotic heart of massive netizen.

What The United Nations says about the Earthquake
Collapsed buildings are the main killers when earthquake strikes, says UN.
Source: Press Release, UN/ISDR 2008/07. 16 May 2008
“We know how to make buildings more resistant to earthquakes, but this knowledge is still not yet well disseminated among decision-makers who enforce building codes for houses, schools and hospitals” says Salvano Briceño, Director of the UN secretariat of the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction.
“Schools, hospitals and other critical infrastructure need to be systematically upgraded and retrofitted in earthquake prone areas if we want to save lives. Vulnerability to earthquakes is still a main cause of death during disasters” says Salvano Briceño.
Both schools and hospitals play important roles in saving the lives of society’s most vulnerable people during disasters, if they are properly designed and built.
”There are still too many poorly designed and constructed buildings in earthquake-prone areas, and too many people dying because of it” says Salvano Briceño
-.-.-.-.
"What we are seeing in every urban earthquake is a result of mostly avoidable errors"
(United Nations Interview with Fouad Bendimerad, Chairman of the Board of the Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative (EMI). Prof. Bendimerad is a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University)
According to your expertise, how do you explain the collapse of so many buildings in China?
What happened in China could have happened in any other urban earthquake region. We must address the structural issues related to the safety of the buildings through integrating disaster risk reduction considerations in urban planning...
But the message is lost in the midst of all the noise! For us, this is a fundamental issue that must be addressed if we want to make schools, hospitals, buildings, and the urban environment safe. We cannot provide safe urban environments by raising awareness alone. We must also build the competency of the institutions and of the professionals who plan, build, and manage cities.
Is it possible to resist a 7.9 magnitude earthquake anyway?
...
Nonetheless, earthquake engineering knowledge has advanced significantly in the last two decades. Seismologists can provide reasonable estimates of hazard impacts to enable the design of buildings to a required level hazard resistance; this is the first step because we know that areas which have experienced large earthquakes in the past will experience them in the future.
Seismologists can also provide a projected level of earthquake impacts which could ensure that buildings are not inappropriately designed to withstand certain hazard impacts. These projected impacts are typically considered in building codes and in special zonation studies. With this information, engineers can provide the adequate design to resist projected hazard impacts. For such large earthquakes, the aim is simply to prevent the building from collapse and to protect the safety of the occupants. The damage could be substantial, and the building may need extensive repairs, if not complete reconstruction. So, yes, with proper technology and adequate knowledge we can construct buildings to resist even the largest earthquakes without collapse.

2008 Beijing yesterday met the challenge to crown the Everest with the Olympic torch. A week after China abandoned the expedition base camp, the 22 year old Tibetan climber Ciren Wangmo were last to win the 8,848 relay in altitude of top of the world supported by the other 18 fellow climber. Chinese officials described the event as "historic for China and the Olympics."

After six hours of the torch was lit up to 50 meters from the top-technically designed for the occasion, and five relievers led the grand spectacle that the Chinese government so eager to provide its people. "We have fulfilled the promise we made to the world and a dream of all Chinese people," said Li Zhixin expedition coordinator, the agency said Reuters. The success of the mission has been based on the experience of Tibetan Mountaineering School. Of the 36 climbers who made up the team, 24 were Tibetans. In the Everest no signs of national fervor accompanying the torch relay through China. The dialogues and congratulations trickled in Tibetan on the scene constantly relaying the China Central Television (CCTV) and one of the climbers celebrated the moment of glory with "Long Live Tibet! To raise the Olympic flame to Mount Qomolangma, as Everest is known in China and in Tibet, the mountain had been cut off since April by Chinese security forces and Nepalese. For fear of human rights protests, no one but the mission was Olympic access to Everest and its surroundings. Despite this, Li Zhixin said in changes detected in the mountain climbers groups not identified with the intention of sabotaging the expedition, reports the South China Morning Post.
The identity of the components, the route and location of the equipment is not made public until the closing stages of the mission. To enable the mission built a road to the base camp. The television broadcast was technically excellent, the best ever made in the mountains, according to organizers, but only were broadcast late on the rise. Multiple channels of CCTV throughout the day reproduced images of adventure and patriotic slogans accompanied by epic music reminiscent of a hybrid soundtracks Chariots of Fire and What the Wind . Only official media and a dozen foreign journalists were allowed to cover the Olympic event. Half of the foreign correspondents who were elected to continue the relay received the news late that they had no tickets, or are advised against the trip because his physical condition would not allow adapt to the altitude. Chinese journalists and instead took days acclimatizing at base camp.

Teng Biao is a Chinese lawyer, one of the signers of the petition that hung in the post yesterday and called for a radical change of strategy in Tibet. Andrea interviewed him recently. Teng Biao is one of those people we commonly regard as heroes. Defending its integrity is played the rule of law and human rights. More than one has told me that the shift Teng Biao are suicidal because if China looking for notoriety, the party cuts off your head. To do their work is helpful to have kept a low profile, not draw attention.
Friends of the Communist Party, who want to be kind to the party, Teng Biao criticize the shift by putting the finger on the pulse and make public certain improprieties, rather than take a more sensitive, not violate the weak growth of China.
But in a country 'normal', the Teng lawyer was not hold it against these things and no one would question his right to do as he pleases, and less when it comes to public service.

Scholarship For People With Lazy Eye
one country, two societies and their heroes
We Westerners frequently get into the same bag to every Chinese that comes our way. Chinas But there are many colors, even within the Communist Party is ideological conflicts between the sectors most dogmatic and politically more liberal. The German journalist Frank Sieren explained recently that the wave "pro-Tibet because" gives wings to the hard-line supporters of the dictatorship, which injured pride flying the national flag and warn of foreign attack against the interests of China. face of so much propaganda hoax, I think society reacts in three ways:
The passing of national furor these campaigns because they already have enough problems .
Those who fall on all fours in the campaign of national victimhood. I do not know if there are many but let see, as unfortunately I witnessed yesterday in Hong Kong . Sad day yesterday for someone like me who considers nationalism of our primitive test.
Those who, despite being in large minority and risk going to prison, they assume that China needs a critical discourse. Because the only way society progresses, analyzing, critiquing and correcting. And China is suffering from a dramatic lack of criticality due to a malicious education system.
This week been made public that a group of more than 300 Chinese intellectuals have written a document calling for a radical change in Communist Party policy on Tibet. I copy here the first 3 points and if you stay with a desire to read more, follow here.
"1. At present the one-sided propaganda of the official Chinese HAVING half is the effect of stirring up inter-ethnic animosity and aggravating an Already tense situation. This is Extremely detrimental to the long-term goal of Safeguarding national unity. We call for Such propaganda to Be Stopped.
2. We support the Dalai Lama's appeal for peace, and hope the ethnic Conflict That Can Be Dealt With According To The Principles of goodwill, peace, and nonviolence. We condemn any violent act against innocent people, strongly urge the Chinese government to stop the violent suppression, and appeal to the Tibetan people likewise not to engage in violent activities.
3. The Chinese government claims that "there is sufficient evidence to prove this incident was organized, premeditated, and meticulously orchestrated by the Dalai clique." We hope that the government will show proof of this. In order to change the inter-national community's negative view and distrustful attitude, we also sug-gest that the government invite the United Nations' Commission on Human Rights to carry out an independent investigation of the evidence, the course of the incident, the number of casualties, etc."
(They are heroes)
